Optical Hazing is a distortion condition that is found on some polished ceramic tile surfaces. The distortion is invisible under normal lighting and only noticeable when illuminated by light coming in from the side at a low angle.

My spouse and I had Crema Marfil marble tiles installed in our ensuite bathroom (residential home). The tiles (over 50%) have black spots or patches (see photos attached). In selecting the Crema Marfil marble tiles, none of the display boards or samples provided to us contained any of the black patches. Thus, we fully expected that the Crema Marfil marble installed would have no black patches.

Polishing Marks on Polished Stone – I have a 24 x 24 polished stone tile installed in a residence where they have windows along one side of the house. When you step back and look at the floor at a 30-45 degree angle, you notice ‘hazy stripes’ in the floor. Probably belt marks from manufacturing. I have gone through all the testing materials and don’t really see anything regarding ‘polish’. Any ideas where I might find anything?

Cleaning Tumbled Stone – I recently had some of tumbled stone installed in my home, and the decorated border was completely unsuitable after grouting than the original border that looked great before grouted. None of the displays in the store show this result…which is cracks and dullness from grout inside of all of it…totally changed appearance to an old chipping look;; installer used sanded grout. How is this supposed to be installed for the original look before grouting and is their anything to remove grout to restore the look?

Wet Look Sealer – My husband and I have installed a (non-gloss) ceramic tile hearth and surround for our new fireplace insert, and we have discovered that we like the look of the tile better when it is wet as it highlights the underlying colors and appears glossy. We also need to seal the grout. Do you have any recommendations for a sealer
