What is the proper requirements for Thin-Set Adhesive Contact for Tile?

QUESTION

What is the proper requirements for Thin-Set Adhesive Contact for Tile? - Would you provide an estimated fee to review a photo of some spot bonding being used to adhere 6" x 24" porcelain tile? I need to know if a proper technique is being used on a current job before it proceeds (considering bonding agents, spot coverage, etc)

ANSWER

ANSWER - If you simply email me a photo and I can answer the question within 5 to 10 minutes we don't charge for our time.  Otherwise if you needed our quality control consulting services we charge at the rate of $250 per hour.
Spot bonding is not an acceptable method for installing tile.  For residential interior dry applications, the tile should be fully bonded and achieve at least 80% contact between tile and substrate, full contact at corners and edges of the tile, and should not have any void larger than 2 x2 inches.   Interior wet applications, exterior applications, and heavy traffic commercial areas should achieve 95% contact.
