How to remove haze caused by Barkeepers Friend cleaner?

QUESTION

How to remove haze from using Barkeepers Friend cleaner? I need advise on how to clean Barkeepers Friend haze off my marble floor. I had baked on backing from the bath rub as i have in floor heating and now I have a haze.

ANSWER

ANSWER - It isn't clear what Barkeepers Friend is made of, but since it is for stainless steel I assume it is somewhat abrasive and may contain an acid base.

Marble is made of calcium carbonate and the polish is sensitive to both abrasive materials and acid. So there might be a combination of the marble being dulled by the abrasive and being etched by the acid. If that is the case then the marble surface can be restored by re-grinding it and polishing it. There are companies who specialize in stone restoration. Of course then you have to continue to maintain the floor or the problem will reoccur. Sealing the floor with a sealer or wax might help or might not particularly since you have a radiant heated floor. Good luck.
