How do I remove Vinegar Stains from my Stone Hearth? can you tell me a safe way to remove vinegar stains from my slate hearth that wont cause further harm. i am reluctant to try until i know what would be best. PS not sure what sort of vinegar it was.

ANSWER - I assume you have a natural stone hearth. Vinegar is an acid with a low pH. Some natural stones are more sensitive to acids than others. Acid sensitive stones can etch from being subjected to acidic products.  Etching actually deteriorates the surface of the stone at that spot.  Fortunately with natural stone you can re-polish the surface to bring back the finish look. There are stone restoration companies who have the equipment and products to do that work.
