How to clean Epoxy Haze off of Tile and Other Materials?

QUESTION

How to clean Epoxy Haze off of Tile and Other Materials? Can epoxy grout & grout haze be removed from ceramic tile, safely & effectively. How? How about from wood? How about from linoleum? Our installers tracked epoxy grout all over our newly installed floors on their boots. Can this be fixed?

ANSWER

ANSWER - Depending on the type of ceramic tile or stone you can remove epoxy haze with an epoxy haze remover such as some companies offer, which is normally a type of paint remover. If the tile is durable enough you can use a cleaning detergent with silica sand and buff the floor with a 3M type pad and buffing machine, which abrades the epoxy haze off. This method can work on durable unglazed and glazed tiles. Make sure you test this method out first to make sure it doesn't damage the tile.

The epoxy remover would probably affect the sealer coating on the wood. It may or may not affect the linoleum. Check with the product manufacturers of the epoxy and the floor covering materials to see what they recommend.
