How best to darken grout so the lines aren't so obvious?

QUESTION

Darkening the Grout Color - New tile put up for bathtub walls. Feature portion is polished marble. Grout is unsanded. Grout is too light around marble. How best to darken so the lines aren't so obvious? Thanks!

ANSWER

ANSWER - I understand that you only want to darken the grout adjacent to the polished marble. This is sort of a trial and error process. There are grout colorants that are epoxy based sold by tile distributors or home centers and you can select a color and apply over the grout. It is a bit tedious to paint on and the grout can't have been sealed.

You can buy a sealer enhancer that darkens stone and grout and apply it to see if it meets your expectations. You can take linseed oil and apply it, but it never really dries out and would be difficult to remove if you didn't like it. Good luck.
