Ceramic Imports Declined 14.7% in First Two Months of 2024

New York, NY, April 10, 2024 – In the first two months of 2024, total U.S. imports of ceramic tile were 26.3 million square meters, a decline of 14.7% from the same period in 2023 when imports were 30.9 million square meters, according to Grosser Consulting.

This decrease was due to the declines in imports from all countries except Italy: India was down by 9.7%, Spain (-6.3%), Mexico (-27.4%), Brazil (-39.7%), Turkey (-31%). Italy was up by 1.6%.

Imports in square meters were as follows: India is in first place with 5.3 million square meters, followed by Spain (4.7 million square meters), Mexico (4.4 million square meters), Italy (4.1 million square meters), Brazil (2.2 million square meters), and Turkey (1.8 million square meters).

Imports in dollars were as follows: Italy is in first place with $83.5 million, followed by Spain ($69.3 million), Mexico ($40.4 million), India ($29.4 million), Brazil ($15.6 million), Turkey ($15.3 million). Total dollar imports were down by 10.7% from $325 million to $290 million.
