Ceramic Imports Declined in February, Vinyl Imports Increased

Charlotte, NC, April 9, 2024 – Ceramic and vinyl imports both saw declines in February, reports Truist.

“Overall ceramic unit imports decreased 21.2% year-over-year, with dollars that were down 21.3% year-over-year. Mexico showed another sizable unit decline, down 25.8% year-over-year, following a decline of 28.9% last month and a weak 2023, but with dollars only down 15.4%.

Vinyl “imports saw a meaningful increase in February, up 18.7% year-over-year, for five months of positive results after an overall weak 2023. However, dollar growth was more moderate, up 8.0%, as year-to-date units are up 23.4% but dollars are only up 9.7%. Units from China, the largest source of material, saw a unit increase of only 3.5%, and South Korea saw a decrease, down 3.0% year-over-year, following a notable recovery last month.”
