Do Tile Installers charge more if the Tile Pattern is different?

QUESTION

Do Tile Installers Charge More if the Tile Pattern is Different?

ANSWER

ANSWER - I assume when you say brick pattern you are referring to a staggered pattern where each tile is off-set from the other from 1/3 to 1/2 the length of the tile.   We refer to the straight pattern as a soldier Course pattern.

I would expect the tile installer to charge more for the staggered pattern because there is more labor in installing and spacing the tiles.  Plus there is likely more tile cutting and waste involved for this type of installation.

Whether $0.50 per foot is reasonable or not just depends on the various conditions involved that I can't speak to.
