Mixed results for the Italian ceramic tile industry in 2024
2024 was a mixed year for the Italian ceramic tile industry, marked by a slight increase in sales volumes but a further decline in production and revenues. Preliminary figures compiled by Prometeia for Confindustria Ceramica and presented at the association’s traditional end-of-year press conference revealed that total sales volumes rose to 376 million sqm in 2024, a 1.9% increase compared to 2023. However, as Confindustria Ceramica Chairman Augusto Ciarrocchi noted, this slight growth has merely maintained sales at the already significantly reduced levels of 2023. When compared to pre-pandemic sales figures of 407 million sqm in 2019, the industry has seen a decline of approximately 7.5%. Read More

The Barometer found increases in Q2 business activity compared with Q1 among home remodeling and design professionals. As the tile market grows within the U.S., the export and import market for tile evolves as well. Catalina Research and the U.S. Department of Commerce reported that in 2023, ceramic and porcelain tile imports value was $2,561 million; its volume in square feet was 1,997 million, down 376 million square feet from 2022.
