Ceramic Imports Declined 6% YOY in The First Five Months of 2023

New York, NY, July 11, 2023 – In the first five months of 2023 total U.S. imports of ceramic tile were 74.6 million square meters, a decline of 6% from the same period in 2022, according to Grosser Consulting.

when imports were 79.5 million square meters. This decrease was mainly due to the large declines in imports from Spain (-21.7%) and Italy (-21.6%).

Imports from Mexico were up 11.6% and from India, 53.1%.

Imports in square meters were as follows: Mexico is in first place with 14.5 million square meters, followed by India (14.4 million square meters), Spain (12.6 million square meters), Italy (10.7 million square meters), Brazil (7.1 million square meters), and Turkey (6.1 million square meters). In addition, imports from Vietnam were 2.2 million square meters and from Peru, 1.87 million square meters.

Imports in dollars were as follows: Italy is in first place with $232 million, followed by Spain ($188 million), Mexico ($119 million), India ($70 million), Turkey ($55 million) and Brazil ($48 million). Total dollar imports were down by 2.7% from $828 million to $805 million.
