U.S. Countertop Materials Imports: April 2026

U.S. imports of countertop materials totaled $302.7 million in April, down 10.6% from the same month a year earlier, according to data from the U.S. International Trade Commission.

The figure covers natural stone and engineered quartz and excludes ceramic tile, cement and concrete. Natural stone accounted for $198.2 million, or 65.5% of the total, while engineered quartz made up $104.4 million, or 34.5%. Both categories fell from April 2025, but engineered quartz dropped harder, down 14% against an 8.7% decline for natural stone.

Quartzite was the lone major natural stone category to grow. Imports rose 13.8% to $47.4 million, reversing a sharp decline the month before. Brazil drove the gain, shipping $37 million in quartzite, up 15% year over year and accounting for roughly 78% of all quartzite imports.

The quartzite surge lifted Brazil to the top of the source country rankings at $56 million, ahead of Italy at $50.6 million and India at $39.2 million. India’s total fell 41.6% from a year earlier.

In engineered quartz, Thailand overtook India as the leading source. Thai imports climbed 50% to $29.3 million while Indian imports collapsed 54% to $18.5 million, continuing a retreat that has reshaped the category over the past year. Malaysia jumped 85% to $8.6 million. Granite continued its slide, falling 26.5% to $37.2 million, while marble slipped 16.2% to $73.3 million.
