U.S. Ceramic Imports Declined 9.5% YOY in First 11 Months of 2023

New York, NY, January 11, 2024 – In the first eleven months of 2023, total U.S. imports of ceramic tile were 170.8 million square meters, a decline of 9.5% from the same period in 2022 when imports were 188.7 million square meters, according to Grosser Consulting.

This decrease was due to the declines in imports from Spain (-21.9%), Italy (-21.8%), Turkey (-36.3%), Brazil (-19.6%) and Mexico (-5.8%).

Imports from India were up 40.3%.

Imports in square meters were as follows: India (34.6 million square meters), Spain (29.6 million square meters), Mexico (28.9 million square meters), Italy (25.4 million square meters), Brazil (15.9 million square meters), Turkey (14.9 million square meters) and Vietnam 6.1 million square meters.

Imports in dollars were as follows: Italy ($538 million), Spain ($440 million), Mexico ($251 million), India ($175 million), Turkey ($131 million) and Brazil ($110 million). Total dollar imports were down by 9.5% from $2.048 million to $1.854 million.
