Tile and Stone Lippage

What is acceptable (and how do you specify it)?

Excessive tile lippage can be avoided with quality architectural specifications that include adequate testing and quality control processes.  It is typically due to a combination of substrates not properly prepared, improper installation methods, improper use of materials, and poor installer workmanship performance.  Perceived excessive tile lippage is often because of inappropriate lighting design, too narrow of grout joints, and not following industry recommendations.  In some cases, where perceived excessive tile lippage is unavoidable, it may be due to false expectations by the specifier or client.  Click here for article (Turn to page 44).
