Advance estimates of U.S. retail and food services sales for December 2025 were $735.0 billion, virtually unchanged from the previous month, and up 2.4% from December 2024, according to the U.S. Census Bureau.

Total sales for the 12 months of 2025 were up 3.7% from 2024. Total sales for the October 2025 through December 2025 period were up 3.0% from the same period a year ago. The October 2025 to November 2025 percent change was unrevised from up 0.6%.

Retail trade sales were virtually unchanged (±0.5 percent)* from November 2025, and up 2.1% from last year. Nonstore retailers were up 5.3% from last year, while food service and drinking places were up 4.7% from December 2024.
