Ceramic Tile Imports Declined 7% in Meters in First 4 Months of 2022

New York, NY, June 13, 2022 – In the months January to April 2022, U.S. ceramic tile imports were down 7.0% in square meters year over year, from 66.5 million square meter to 61.9 million square meter, according to Grosser Consulting. While imports in quantity were down in this period, values were up.

In first place is Spain with 13.2 million square meters, followed by Italy (10.3 million square meters), Mexico (10.3 million square meters), Turkey (7.6 million square meters), India (6.9 million square meters) and Brazil (6.5 million square meters).

Total imports in dollars were $637 million, up from $607 million last year (+5,1%). In first place is Italy with $192 million, followed by Spain ($159 million), Mexico ($79 million), Turkey ($54 million), India ($41 million), and Brazil ($40 million).

Average freight on board (FOB) prices in the first four months of 2022 were $10.30/square meter. Average FOB highest price was from Italy ($18.70) and then Spain ($12.11), Mexico ($7.74), Turkey ($7.16), Brazil ($6.13) and India ($5.92).

Average landed prices were $13.60/square meter. Highest for Italy ($23.54), followed by Spain ($17.79), Turkey ($9.40), India ($8.77), Brazil ($8.44), and Mexico ($8.20)
