Ceramic Imports Declined by 7.8% YOY in First Seven Months of 2023

New York, NY, September 8, 2023 – In the first seven months of 2023 total U.S. imports of ceramic tile were 109 million square meters, a decline of 7.8% from the same period in 2022 when imports were 118 million square meters, according to Grosser Consulting.

This decrease was due to the declines in imports from Spain (-21.2%), Italy (-20.3%), Turkey (-36.3%) and Brazil (-14.0%).

Imports from Mexico were up 0.8% and from India up 41.7.0%.

Imports in square meters were as follows: India is in first place with 20.9. million square meters, followed by Spain (19.5 million square meters), Mexico (19.0 million square meters), Italy (15.9 million square meters), Brazil (10.8 million square meters) and Turkey (9.6 million square meters).

Imports in dollars were as follows: Italy is in first place with $343 million, followed by Spain ($289 million), Mexico ($160 million), India ($104 million), Turkey ($86 million) and Brazil ($73 million). Total dollar imports were down by 5.9% from $1.260 million to $1.187 million.

Average F.O.B values per square meter were as follows: Italy ($21.51), Spain ($14.85), Mexico ($8.42), India ($4.96), Turkey ($8.99), Brazil ($6.75). The value for all countries was $10.87.
