Ceramic Imports Declined 4.9% YOY in Q1 2022

New York, NY, May 9, 2022 – In the first three months of 2022, U.S. ceramic tile imports were down 4.9% to 47.1 million square meters year over year, compared to 49.5 million square meters in the first three months of 2021, reports Grosser Consulting.

Spain led imports with 10.5 million square meters, followed by Italy (7.7 million square meters), Mexico (7.6 million square meters), Turkey (million square meters), India (million square meters) and Brazil (million square meters).

Total imports in dollars were $477 million, up from $440 million last year. In first place was Italy with $142 million, followed by Spain ($124 million), Mexico ($59 million), Turkey ($40 million), India ($34 million), and Brazil ($29 million).

Average Free on Board (FOB) prices in the first three months of 2022 were $10.14/ square meter.  Average FOB highest price was from Italy ($18.39) and then Spain ($11.83), Mexico ($7.76), Turkey ($6.94), Brazil ($6.12) and India ($5.88).
