Ceramic Imports Declined 3% in First Seven Months of 2024

New York, NY, September 11, 2024 – In the first seven months of the year, total U.S. imports of ceramic tile were 105.8 million square meters, a decline of 3% from the same period in 2023 when imports were 109 million square meters, according to Grosser Consulting.
The decrease was due to the decline in imports from Mexico (-18.9%), Brazil (-27.4), Turkey (-25.9) and Spain (-1%). Imports from India were up by 17.3%, from Italy were up 6.0% and from Vietnam were up 52.6%.
Imports in square meters were as follows: India is in first place with 24.5 million square meters, followed by Spain (19.3 million square meters), Italy (16.9 million square meters), Mexico (15.4 million square meters), Brazil (7.8 million square meters), Turkey (7.1 million square meters) and Vietnam (5.0 million square meters). Total imports were 105.8 million square meters, a 3% decline.
Imports in dollars were as follows: Italy is in first place with $344 million (+.05%), followed by Spain ($290 million, +.05%), Mexico ($139 million, -13.3%), India ($126 million, +21%), Turkey ($58 million, -33%), Brazil ($54 million, -26%) and Vietnam ($33 million, +45%). Total imports were $1.150 million, a 3% decline.
