Chips in Wood Looking Porcelain Tile

QUESTION

I have new wood look porcelain tile on my patio. During installation of steel patio cover, thousands of welding particles were dropped onto the tile (they didn't cover it) and little metal pieces embedded themselves into the surface of the tile. They are trying to get them out with a buffer with nylon pads, a handheld wire brush and Simple Green/water solution. I fear that even if they get out the metal pieces, the nicks left on the surface of the tile have compromised the tiles ability to resist moisture. Can you please provide your opinion? Thanks.

ANSWER

ANSWER - Chances are the hot metal melted the glazed tile surface.  If the tile body is porcelain then by definition it should be impervious and should not compromise the tiles' ability to resist moisture.
